Forming in 2003 after Chisato, formerly of the all-female punk band THUG MURDER (TKO Records), and Kenta666, from the hardcore band REAL SHIT, started collaborating, the VICKERS quickly carved a name for themselves as one of Japan's fiercest rock n' roll acts. They released their first mini-album Stab Your Back, now out-of-print, which was quickly followed up with three brutal albums. The band caused a stir in Taiwan when they played the island's Formoz Festival, and later when they returned for the Anti-pop series. Recently, tiny terror Annie joined taking on bass duties and THE VICKERS sound louder and more striking than ever!

PACIFICTION REVIEW:THE VICKERS return once again with Monster Rock 'n' Roll action! Six Realm of Rebirth is their first recording with tiny terror Annie on bass who adds a 70's chick rocker dimension in true RUNAWAYS fashion to the band's repertoire. Vocalist Ryu still commands the mic with a leather jacket desperation while Kenta666 handles metal-infused guitar work. Songs like "Light the Night" and "Jazz It Up" demonstrate the band's ability to meld heavy metal with hardcore punk while others like "Breaking Dawn" set a more classic hard rock tone. The Motorhead cover "Bomber" is a wild surprise as well as a nod to one of THE VICKER's prime influences. This latest late night effort by one of Tokyo's hardest rockin' bands is a must have for fans of 70's rock 'n' roll punk. |
