Taking the name out of fear of actual deportation for playing music in Taiwan, this motley assortment of expats and derelicts from the US, Canada, France and Taiwan share a common tie to punk rock. Two original members were actually deported, adding truth to the myth surounding the group. THE DEPORTED have played every dingy corner of Taiwan, toured South East Asia and recently completed their first tour of Japan.

THE DEPORTED CONSIDER THE MEEK D.G.S. PACIFICTION REVIEW:This unique split uniting three of Taiwan's most explosive punk acts is kicked off by a group of belligerent expats and derelicts who go by the name THE DEPORTED; and not without good reason. Andy O's gritty vocals backed by the groups shredding impact question the virtues of getting a life at 25, look forward when things are "All Gone" and point out the inanity of fighting a war for the profit of others. CONSIDER THE MEEK offer a more melodic approach to social and political issues with lyrics that rage against abuse, exploitation and American imperialism. The last set of songs are by D.G.S., the only native Taiwanese group featured on the collection. Songs like "Mohawk" meld pop punk and emo with an edgy sound vaguely reminiscent of Minor Threat. "Em" is a friendly jab at a SxE friend. Despite the band's break-up in 2005, D.G.S. truly show how the Taiwan punk scene is vibrant and full of raucous taike spirit. |
