PACIFICTION REVIEW:

The second Lobo compilation is a double disc hodge podge of Taiwanese indie rarities recorded by some of the more successful indie bands as well as the curiosities . Opening the first disc with an acoustic groove, FRECKLE would become one of the most listened to underground bands on the island to date. The acoustic vibe is continued with GREEN!EYES' lonely and rolling alt-country sound as well as GLORY's ode to Joe Strummer and the meaning of punk. APRIL APPLES gives us a fantastic piece of electro-pop while contributions of metal, post-rock and experimental rock are given by MARINE, XIEN and EPILEPSY.

The second disc begins with oddity by STARCHILD, an fast-paced punky electronic group that came together for a short time and left us with this one song before splitting. Next, is the first track ever released by Taiwan's most innovative indie punk groups CHASING SPARROW an edgy tribute to one of their favorite groups entitled "Modest Sparrow." The internationally known VARO make an appearance with "The Fast Runner," a piece that mimics the feel of the film. Resounding with more experimentation, post-rock sounds and cinematic attraction are tracks by NIPPLES, INNER SENSE and SELFKILL.

This motley collection of rarities from the era when Taiwan indie music broke into the international scene should not be missed for its odd musical selection nor for its historical charm.
