Forming in 2004 amidst a rise in instrumental post rock and emotional indie, ORANGEGRASS quickly rose to popularity among the underground scene. After two years of playing various festivals and shows around Taiwan, the band released their first mini-album titled Rainbow 4AM which has drawn them comparisons to the Japanese indie group QURULI. The youthful, effects driven sound of ORANGEGRASS can still be heard at any of the island's yearly festivals.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:ORANGEGRASS are one of the up-and-coming indie rock bands in Taipei with their first mini-album is a tell tale sign. As first song begins with a pop vibe, suddenly the melody is attacked by stabbing guitar sounds. Calming things down a bit with a Brit-pop sound is "And Go," followed by the rock n roll hooks and pseudo-jazz guitar riffs of "Rainbow 4AM." Rolling drums, explosive breakdowns and youthful vocals make up "Silvery," while "沒說的話" with its introspective moments interrupted by effects driven guitars pleasantly leads the album to its finish. |
