After honing their version of Taiwan-ized alt-rock, BIKE cut an EP on the local Taiwan indie label Gamaa Music. Around the same time, the Japanese label People’s Records was branching out into the Taiwan scene and decided to release a split CD featuring BIKE and Japanese punks THE SAVAS symbolizing unity between the two countries’ music scenes. BIKE was also one of the local headliners at a recent People’s Records event in Taiwan.

TRACK LIST:
PACIFICTION REVIEW:BIKE takes modern rock and adds the natural tonal melodies of their language to make a delicate yet edgy rock sound native to their island Taiwan. The first couple tracks contain catchy, cutting distortion tinged chord changes, held together by strong vocals that seem to be proclaiming Taiwan can rock too! Slowing down things is the bitter sweet "不再" which features female vocals and regretful sounding guitar windings. The same female vocalist joins for the last track with a more up beat alternative rock sound. For those looking for real Taiwanese indie rock that has more power than the usual instrumental shoegaze band, then look no further. |
