Starting out in the mid-90's, WATER CLOSET fused biting CLASH style guitars with indie rock and melodic punk. They quickly made a name for themselves in a scene with other popular Japanese punk acts of the day including DISGUSTEENS, HI-STANDARD and HUSKING BEE, and even released material on the infamous Pizza of Death label.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:The latest release by WATER CLOSET reaffirms their upbeat tenacity to youth with their characteristically bright-toned punk and alternative, yet this time with a sound approaching closer to 70's rock 'n' roll with Asuka's vocals reaching JOAN JETT intensity making this album one of the best things recently to come from a Japanese indies band. Their fun intro bursts into "I Should Take It Eazy," a pop punk song with a CLASH influence and a reggage break down. "Nothing Left" features Shimo on vocals leading with a funky bass line interrupted by Asuka's chorus and surfy riffs. The biting guitar sound on "Sun & I" and Asuka's leather jacket tones take their sound further back into the 70's roots of punk. Their cover of THE FAST CARS' "The Kids Just Wanna Dance" is not to be missed by power pop aficionados. Alternating between, male and female vocals, classic and modern effects, and punk and pop melodies, WATER CLOSET is sure to appeal to a variety of music listeners. |
