Rocket Jack Vaders formed in 1996 and quickly became popular among the Japanese garage scene for their mix of dark surf sounds and post-punk approach to 60's sounds. In 2003 the band joined the Japunks party at CBGBs along with other garage favorites Goggle A and Guitar Wolf and NY locals The Spunks and Peelander-Z. Since their first album Loud Stereo and after some line-up changes, Rocket Jack Vaders have shifted in a direction experimenting more with No Wave techniques and alternative instrumentation.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:The latest effort from one of Tokyo's most talked about experimental garage bands includes eerie surf tones, jagged No Wave rhythms and spoken word ramblings. The double drumming affect produced by the addition of percussionist Fa-Q, on songs like "New Wave" shows how their edgy guitar playing is tightened up. Things let loose on the surf driven noir jam "Steel Ball Rain," while guitar player Shinko lends gutsy female vocals to the garage blues "Gimme Ruby." The epic final track, "Stop!!" features a big beat, wailing trumpet and vocal trade-offs between Sue and Shinko, making it a remarkable finale. |
