THE PLAYMATES

Since forming in 1993, THE PLAYMATES have managed to captivate Japanese audiences with their jangly melodic pop sounds in the style of THE BEATLES. The group quickly signed with the influential K.O.G.A. Records and has released several successful albums on label. Despite a slowdown in activity, THE PLAYMATES still occasionally appear at mod events, and frontman Sei Yamamoto continues to write songs as a solo musician.

THE PLAYMATES specialize in power pop and on this 45 we get some real mod sounds. "I Need You Tonight" comes on with an edgy, jangly 60's revival sound that is just right for a dance party romantics. The slide sounds on "Time For Your Tears" bring back the swinging sounds of Japanese 70's guitar pop while the up-beat chorus will please mods the world over.
