About the Band

THE ROUTES

Chris Jack proved to be a one man British invasion when he arrived in Fukuoka, Japan, bringing his fuzzed out blues guitar styling with him. After forming THE ROUTES in 2004 the band fine-tuned their beat music sounds and got notice overseas by Motorsounds Records as well as Japan's Sazanami Label appearing on compilations from both record companies. After releasing their first album Left My Mind, the band saw a lineup change and a change in direction toward rawer American garage punk which can be heard on the most recent release, the 7" single "Do What's Right By You" on Dirty Water Records.

Members (on Left My Mind):

Chris Jack - Guitar & Vocals
Toru "Mukku" Nishimuta - Bass

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

While Left My Mind owes much to British blues, beat and psyche bands like the YARDBIRDS and PRETTY THINGS, it's much more than a homage. This is evident after giving ear to Chris Jack's snarling vocals and wild yet controlled riffing over a stomping rhythm section composed of a strong backbeat and bomping bass by Japanese musicians Masao Nakayama and Toru Nishimuta, respectively. Whether it's the driving beat on "Chang Your Mind," the helter-skelter slide guitar on "The Shadow" or the teenage angst-filled blues of "Bleed you Dry," there's enough garage punk nuggets on this album to blow what's left of your mind!
