About the Band

REAL SHIT

When Yokohama hardcore band REAL SHIT formed in 1996, they took influence from early DIY punk scenes which included bands like SS DECONTROL and MINOR THREAT and their own self-made labels, X-Claim and Dischord, respectively. Mixing in a dose of skate culture and real life stories from Japanese suburbia, Real Shit became a respected band in the 90's and even managed to tour the west coast before disbanding in 2002. Guitarist Kenta666 went on to form THE VICKERS, and in 2008 reunited with REAL SHIT for several shows and the release of Real Music for Shit People, a collection of their early recordings.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

This omnibus contains 21 blistering tracks reissued from early demos, 7 inches and compilations by one of the most respected bands to come out of the Yokohama hardcore scene. REAL SHIT play fast thrashy hardcore influenced by bands like SS DECONTROL and D.R.I. with occasional emphasis on metal guitar stylings driven by Kenta 666 (who currently plays in monster rock 'n' roll band THE VICKERS). There's also a cover of "Born to Skate" by the British skate punk band THE STUPIDS. The liner notes include lyrics translated into English giving punks a world away a glimpse into seedy suburban Japan.
