After releasing a string of demos in the 90's, DREX released their first album "Dregs and Rex" on Bootstomp Records. PACIFICTION REVIEW:On their latest mini-album, DREX present four boot stompin' tunes that vary between Mods revival, second wave ska and punk rock 'n' roll. Slick chord progressions and choruses mark "Hard Times Strike" while "One Step" is an upbeat punk tune with a ska beat. DREX offer some speedy RnR riffing on "Lies or Truth" and "Pressure Drop" is a skankin' cover of the TOOTS & THE MAYTALS ska classic. Hinting at inspirations such as the JAM, SPECIALS and CLASH, DREX keep this age-old genre alive in the Japanese punk scene today. |
