About the Band

DEAD BAMBIES

Swirling in vivid sound & color, DEAD BAMBIES burst onto the the Japanese indie scene in 2000 giving an already happening scene an even more kaleidoscopic edge. Drawing on 60's garage rock & homegrown Japanese Showa pop, the BAMBIES remain a fixture in the current underground scene playing alongside and sharing fans with bands like THE HARPY's and RED BACTERIA VACUUM. Their debut album うろこのドア hit in 2005 and more recently they released a self-titled follow-up all the while playing out non-stop!

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

The DEAD BAMBIES self-titled release is a playful romp through garage pop and retro psychedelic sounds filtered through a Japanese mindset nurtured on Showa pop and traditional melodies. Rght from the Nuggets-style riffing and "Hey hey hey hey!" on the first track you can tell the BAMBIES don't simply play "indie rock." There 's much more fun stuff happening here! Yet pint-sized power-vocalist Chuck, a spunky girl by the way, blares out carefully crafted lyrics in Japanese removing notions they are just another retro garage band. Bright and heavy, or cute and funky, just enjoy DEAD BAMBIES!
