PACIFICTION REVIEW:

California Sun is a scintillating collection of Japanese surf, garage & hot rod music hand-picked by the premier Tokyo surf band RAT HOLIC! The comp blasts off on a magic carpet pipeline curl by THE WINDOWS doing "Ali Baba" who also appear later with the classic "Bombora" by THE ATLANTIC. Representing the Tokyo garage scene is THE GREAT MONGOOSE, and THE PEBBLES appear for some added 60's girl pop measure. THE EL CAMINOS & THE TWINKLE ARROWS both provide classic instrumental group sounds. JACKY & ENOCKY (two thirds of the infamous JACKY & THE CEDRICS) offer boppin' country swing with vocals which are nicely complimented by the rockabilly riot of the TERRY SHIMAMURA GROUP. And of course RAT HOLIC blares out some surf legends on a couple tracks of their own!
